About the Central Tablelands Herefords Association

"Central Tablelands Herefords Association" was until 2007 the Central Tablelands Poll Hereford Association and is one of eleven regional associations within NSW. The CTPHA was formed in 1977 by nine local breeders, some of whom are still actively involved, with the aim of promoting and advancing both the breed and all facets of beef production. Those aims remain unchanged.

The CTHA has been a forerunner in producer education and promotion of the Hereford and Poll Hereford breed in NSW. Over the 27 years since formation, the Association has conducted many field days and information workshops on the topics of the day, with a wide and varied list of well respected guest speakers from all areas associated with primary production. For many years the Association conducted a highly successful annual bull and associated female sale at Bathurst show ground, being the first to attract sponsors who provided prizes for successful exhibitors and bidders alike. Honda Australia gave away motorbikes and generators; QANTAS Australia gave overseas holidays, various drug companies and local business houses supported by way of animal care products. There were on occasions, over 120 bulls catalogued for sale.

The CTHA has always been very fortunate to have enthusiastic members keen to assist and support not only their Association where asked, but more importantly each other. Members are particularly committed to assisting new or less experienced breeders. Field days and working bees have always been supported with a good membership roll up. The Association meets as required to discuss and deal with local matters or those relevant to Herefords Australia Ltd. We are always active in considering or forming policy and regulation changes that effect the membership throughout Australia.

Our meetings are aimed at being a balance between dealing with the business at hand and a pleasant social gathering. We usually enjoy a meal together at the conclusion of the meeting and we always welcome new members and guests.
